What will you find in the “Throwback Thursday Fantasy Relay” series? I’ll feature either a fantasy book, TV show, or movie, share some lesser known information on it and if I’m familiar with it, I’ll share a brief
review as well. The fantasy genre is vast, encompassing epic fantasy, contemporary fantasy, and more, so this series is full of variety. From blockbusters to new tales, this series will have it all. There are so many
fantasy films and books that are making a lasting impression on society and are worth discussing, so here I go… Perhaps you’ll stumble on a fantasy gem you’d never heard of in this series.
Throwback Thursday Fantasy Relay: Reborn!
Reborn (Fantasy Book) Summary:
Are you ready to challenge Fate?To save a kingdom, a prophetess must challenge Fate.
On the day of Yssa’s death and rebirth, the god Apenth chose her as the Phoenix
Sea serpents and gods endanger the young prophetess’s journey and sour the
omens. Yssa is cursed instead of blessed, and her duties at the Temple of
Apenth prove it. She spends her days reading dusty scrolls, which does nothing
to help her forget Tym, the boy back home. But the annoying yet gorgeous
ferryman’s son Liam proves to be a distraction she can’t predict, even though
he rarely leaves her alone for two sand grains.
Her boring temple life screeches to a halt when visions of her parents’ murders
consume her. Yssa races across an ocean to stop the future. If she can’t change
Fate, she’ll refuse to be the Phoenix Prophetess any longer. Fate, however, has
other plans for her and the kingdom.
Yssa must either accept her destiny or fight to change Fate.
My Review of Reborn:
Books can be full of magic, fascinating places, thrilling
characters and heart piercing plots, but rarely do books have it all. Reborn (a
lovely fantasy book) incorporates all of the above and kept me interested. Yssa
was relatable in her struggles to understand herself and others. She is living
a very strange existence, one where she can’t run away from her special gift,
but it almost seems like a curse much of the time. She’s tough yet vulnerable
too, which gave her a lot of dimension as she navigated the twists and turns of
the story. I’d also note that there are some very beautifully written scenes that
are quite amazing to visualize. I’d recommend it to any mythology and fantasy
lovers. And last but not least, is the Reborn book cover not amazing?
And in case you hadn’t already been by my blog in the last few days, here are some other exciting things going on in my world this week…
