Vestige of Credence: Chapter 2
Part 15: Lailie’s World
Lailie said the city of Olcanic was built purely of pyroxenite and dunite: pyroxenite, an uncommon ultra-morphed rock from the deep sea crust; and dunite, a rare rock that forms beautiful green crystal-like growths. Approaching the city, its beauty was unimaginable. Gleaming green crystals stood out brightly against the dark pyroxenite. The cool green and black colors clashed against the bright lava lake located below looming structures. The structures protruded from the rock walls to form curved and swirled shapes all nestled within a gargantuan cavern. The civilization stretched so far into the cave, it was impossible to discern how large it truly was.
The Graphine were swimming in the lava and going about their daily lives upon the visitors’ arrival. The cavern was located in a small air pocket. It blew Kadden’s mind as he searched for reasoning of how the planet Terryl worked, and what enabled this function of life. As Ellara and Kadden emerged for the first time in their lives to exit the water, their bodies felt lighter. Being water dwelling creatures, they found that the air felt strange. As the water which naturally soaked into their skin began to evaporate, it left their skin feeling softer and warmer. Ellara noticed the weight of her long silver hair become much lighter and fluffier within a matter of minutes. Ellara’s and Kadden’s strong Basalt bodies moved so easily and smoothly through the air it took them by surprise. The sensation of the gentle air around them was new and, for the first time, they discovered what it felt like to be dry.
